Flooding in Cambridgeshire -December 2020
Flooding in Cambridgeshire - impact in South Cambridgeshire, including bin collections
Following the deluge of rain we have had over the last few days, SCDC are working with other local authorities as part of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough emergency plan.
The worst of the flooding has impacted homes and major roads in Huntingdonshire. The A14 near where it joins the A1 is still closed which means we will see traffic issues in some South Cambridgeshire communities. However, there is a lot of water on the roads in South Cambs and some homes have been impacted.
As always we would ask you to help us to ensure people concerned think about protecting their own properties. We do issue sandbags to vulnerable people when their home is at imminent risk of flooding but surges in demand, and often flooded roads, mean we cannot always get to everyone when they need help. There is more information on the flooding page of our website.
Flooded roads in some parts of the district mean we will not be able to collect all bins We will post more information on our website at the end of the day and update you and our communities so they know what is going on.
If you have any emergency requests out of hours please call 0845 609 5437. This is a contact service. They will take the necessary information and pass it on to our on call team to action.
