Meldreth village Clubs and Associations

This list of Clubs and Associations in the Village is maintained by the Parish Clerk but relies on club leaders keeping the list up to date with changes and amendments. Because these are subject to change at various times, we publish only the name of the club unless the Clerk is advised otherwise. We make no claims that all the clubs which are active in the village have registered their names with us or have provided the correct name.

If you have an interest in any of the clubs below, please email the Parish Clerk who may be able to provide more details.

Likewise, if you are a member of any of the clubs or associations mentioned below, would like more details to be published on this list, or wish to amend any of the names, contact the Parish Clerk and we will gladly, without cost, and at the next site review, publish web site, or email addresses & brief details of club activities (max 30 words please) alongside your club name.

Bowls Club

The Club has been in existence since 1932 and now consists of about ninety members, a few being social members who take part in the varied social events that are held during the year. There is a spacious clubhouse and bar.

Last year members played in the Top Division of the County League, The Meldreth & District League and the Foxton Afternoon League as well as enjoying several friendly matches with other clubs in the area. In this coming year, the ladies will be competing in the County Ladies Triples League for the first time. Already, the Ladies have achieved a place in the County Fours Final and will be taking part in the National Championships at Leamington Spa later in the year.

Whilst the County League matches are taken very seriously, the Club is somewhat more relaxed with regard to other matches as it is interested in maintaining a friendly club whilst giving everyone a chance to play in as many matches as possible.

The Clubhouse and Green are situated almost opposite the Church in Meldreth.
Please ring Barbara Clutterbuck on 01763 260592  if you are interested and would like to know further details.

Brownies

Brownies have fun! Their meetings are full of challenges, games and activities, usually ones that the Brownies have suggested themselves

Brownies belong to a Pack and work in small groups called Sixes. This gives each girl a group of ready-made friends to take care of her. It also makes her feel that she belongs to something special. Brownies meet regularly and there are often opportunities for Brownies to take part in special activities and events throughout the year. Any girl over the age of seven who wishes to can become a Brownie.
The Brownie Promise is: "I promise that I will do my best: To love my God, To serve the Queen and my country, To help other people and To keep the Brownie Guide Law."
The Brownie Guide Law is: A Brownie Guide thinks of others before herself and does a good turn every day.
Each Brownie chooses what she wants to wear from a range of items - it is up to each girl to decide which items she likes. This choice allows Brownies to be themselves but also makes them feel part of the Pack.

Meetings are held on Wednesday evening between 6pm and 7.30pm in Meldreth at Parish Church Meeting Room, term times only.
We have 2 adults, plus a parent if needed, supervising and take a maximum of 24 girls.
We currently have no waiting list and should you wish your daughter to participate, please contact Samantha Pascoe (Unit Leader) on 01763 261400.
